Food trucks aren’t that well known in India as compared to some other countries. However, there are still quite a few of them roaming the streets of cities across the country. One such operation in Mumbai is The Waffle Truck.
The Waffle Truck serves, well, what else but waffles! Operating out of a pay and park in Breach Candy, the operation runs out of a modified tempo with the entire rear compartment decked up from the exterior to resemble a waffle. A small two-man operation, the waffle truck serves a surprising variety of waffles for its size. A choice of over 10 different toppings - from the classic maple syrup to the popular options like Ferrero Rocher and Nutella, along with a choice of regular or dark waffle, a truly mouth-watering menu for anyone with a sweet tooth.
The operation is rather new, having opened last Christmas and like many other businesses has faced a few teething problems. Operating hours start post 6:00 pm in the evening 7 days a week and end close to midnight.
We ended up ordering the Dark Explosion waffle and the Milkybar Waffle both with a dark waffle base.
Being the classic takeaway operation, we were served the waffle folded into a neat triangular package with the waffles slathered in chocolaty goodness and may we say it was truly delectable.
Prices range between Rs 110 and Rs 180 (could have changed with the new tax structure) and portion sizes are quite generous, with one waffle being enough of a snack to satiate your sweet tooth and a second probably coming close to giving you a sugar rush. We’ll leave the decision to go for seconds up to you. Though with its location near a popular joggers park, some may want to be careful not to gain what they lose before getting home.
So if you're at Breach Candy sometime in the late evening and want to try something apart from your regular cakes and doughnuts to satiate that sweet tooth give this place a try. You won’t regret it.
